I was recently asked what I would like to hear when I stood before the Judgement seat of Christ. As I gave it some thought, I came up with several things.
1. Well done, you responded to Me.
2. You tried to do what I asked you to do.
3. You repented when I convicted your heart.
4. You cared for those I asked you to care for.
5. You preached the gospel, and here is the fruit.
6. You loved Me, and you sought Me. You longed to be with me.
7. Your sins are covered in My precious Blood.
I have had a rather ordinary life, not without its tragedies. No one goes through this life without wounds and subsequent scars. But just as the Bible says in the Passion Translation 1 Cor. 1:26-27, “26 Brothers and sisters, consider who you were when God called you to salvation. Not many of you were wise scholars by human standards, nor were many of you in positions of power. Not many of you were considered the elite when you answered God’s call. 27 But God chose those whom the world considers foolish to shame those who think they are wise, and God chose the puny and powerless to shame the high and mighty. “
So there are not that many who were of an elite standing when called, or who managed to do extraordinary things in the eyes of men, for God. Most of us are simple people, living simple lives, but we desire Him. We want to hear Him speak to our hearts, and we want to respond. We want to please Him. We want to repent when we fail, and fail we do, but over all we are lovers of God and lovers of people. We seek Him in His Word and prayer, and know the preciousness of His Blood that is the only covering for our sins.
So though I may not be in line for great rewards, how wonderful it will be just to know that the things I have done in my life for Him, will be successfully completed to some extent. Because He is my Savior; He is my Shepherd. He has been with me all the way. Even when I wasn’t sure He was there, He was. He prompted me to continue on when I was ready to stop. What a wonderful Savior! He gets all the credit, I get forgiven and get to enter into eternity with Him.
