Someone recently told me they believed that people had no right to want to escape the great tribulation. They reasoned that anyone wanting to escape was not willing to go through what others were going through everyday.
I responded that there is a great difference between the wrath of man and the wrath of God. Many of us suffer the wrath of man on a daily basis, but not the wrath of God. The Bible clearly tells us, Jn 16 22b, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Whereas of the great tribulation it says, “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.” As for who sends the great tribulation we need to look into the book that describes it, the book of Revelation.
In Revelation 6 we are in heaven and the first of the seal judgments are being opened. Whose judgements? They are God’s judgements. Opened by whom? Opened by the Lamb. Terrible things happen on earth. But in Rev.6: 16 what do the people on earth do? They hide themselves in the rocks and dens of the mountains and say, “Fall on us and hide us from, THE WRATH OF THE LAMB, FOR THE GREAT DAY OF HIS WRATH HAS COME; AND WHO SHALL BE ABLE TO STAND.”
In Revelation 14:9-10, it is written, “If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the WRATH OF GOD, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the Lamb;”
Revelation15:1, “And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the WRATH OF GOD.” These are not all the verses showing the tribulation is the wrath of God, but they are enough. Now I want to talk about why it is God’s wrath and not satan’s.
Satan has been angry since he fell. When he was not able to ascend to the place of the most High and usurp God’s position, God cast him down. He has been angry and has desired to destroy man, who is made in the image of God, since man was created. That is why satan tempted Eve to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
For generations satan attempted to prevent the birth of the Messiah, he failed. Then he nailed Him to the cross thinking he had killed the Lord of Glory. He did not count on the resurrection! So yes, satan knows his time is short, and he is enraged, but when the sin of the earth has filled up the cup of God’s tolerance, His judgement is poured out.
He is a loving God. He would that all men would understand they have offended a Holy God and must repent. Unfortunately many don’t. Those who do will be able to receive Jesus, but they will be killed because they will not receive the mark of the beast. They will go to be immediately with Jesus.
Luke 21:28 says, “When these things begin to come to pass, then look up , and lift up your heads; for your redemption drawers nigh.” Luke 21:36, “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to ESCAPE all those things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”
God bless and keep us till He comes. May we have a blessed new year as we look for His return.
