Most of us are not famous, rich, important, or beautiful people. That is how it is. We just are ordinary folk… the kind that live ordinary lives doing ordinary things. In a world of social media where everyone is trying to show their best face (real or not), it can be very discouraging …if you don’t look a little deeper.
According to 1 Corinthians 1:27, God has chosen the foolish and weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base and despised things, so that no man may boast before God. It is by His doing that we are in Christ Jesus, and He is the One in whom we boast.
We are here for a short span of time, for a special purpose…placed here by our heavenly Father who knew us before we were ever formed in our mother’s womb. Psalm 139 says that He knew us when we were being formed in our mother’s womb, and He knows when we rise up and when we sit down; and before there is a word on our tongue, He knows it all. There is no place we can go from His Spirit. He knows us so well! He values us that much!
Acts 17:26 says that He determined the appointed times and the boundaries where we would live, and Ephesians 2:10 says that, “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” He planned good works for each one of us!
He knows everything about us…when and where we will live and what He wants us to do. It is up to us to cooperate, of course, and the Holy Spirit makes that possible. When we live our lives with these things in mind, it changes everything. We never know who we may meet each day or what inspiration we may receive from the Father about things to do.
Our lives can have a great impact on the lives of others if we are sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. There is no greater joy than leading another person to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior… and that person’s life is changed forever!
We may seem small and unimportant, but Jesus called us the salt of the earth. He put a pretty great value on that. Salt kills corruption. Heaven knows this world is full of corruption and needs all the salt it can get.
So don’t be discouraged. Jesus is not finished with us yet. He put us exactly where we are and will faithfully keep us. Our job is to keep the faith, and grow in knowing Him.
