It is a wonderful thing that God doesn’t change. Have you ever considered that? If He did, He might listen to our arguments and someday actually be convinced by one of them. Of course, I say this in jest, but I have noticed how vehemently some people put forth their arguments on scripture, leaving no possibility of alternate interpretation. Others just declare how life should be and what is ok and what is not. Some of these things are pretty serious, too. Pick anything that you have heard on the news lately. Aren’t you glad God doesn’t set His laws by what people want. What if He went with majority rule? I am so glad that only God is God. He understands exactly what the world needs. He is not swayed by the whims of man.
There are so many different ideas and views about things, no way could we all ever agree. Yet why is it that people feel the need for others to see things the same way they do? I believe it is because they are not really sure that what they believe in is right, and need the validation of others. If you think I am wrong, that upsets me, because what if you are right! So I need you to believe what I believe!
When people can’t make others see things their way, they often become hateful. Instead, they should pull back and look at the big picture. Otherwise it’s possible to miss the very reason for creation altogether.
God has it all figured out. He has since the beginning. His Word says that He never changes. As He has been, so He always will be. If we want to know Him, we can go to the book He has given us, the Holy Bible. It was written by the hands of men who did so at the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Every word was “God breathed”. This book has stood the test of time. It has been proven true over and over again by history and by archaeology. What God said would happen has either happened or is about to happen.
God made man in his image and after his likeness. It is his heart’s desire for us to express Him. It is a good thing we cannot change God to make Him express what we are like. But then there is no need for that since there is already one who expresses that image.
“Jesus said to them, ‘If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me. Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:42-44 NASB
The Good news is, if you don’t like your father, you can be born again. By recognizing that you need to be forgiven and asking the Lord Jesus to forgive you, you can receive His Spirit. You can indeed be born again to be children of God, the One who never changes.
