Have you ever noticed as you go through your day, especially when doing busywork, that a continuous train of thoughts is playing in the background? Sometimes they are memories of past experiences, and more often than not, failures. These are followed by “spontaneous” thoughts that tend to condemn. We sigh and continue on with what we are doing. This can go on for hours almost unnoticed, as long as we let it. The important thing is, we don’t have to let it.

Psalm 139: 14 reads “I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” This is how our Father sees us, and he has also told us that we can do all things through him strengthening us (Phil. 4:13). He has told us that we are made in his image (Gen.1:27), and that by the precious blood of Jesus we are washed white as snow(Isa. 1:18). He has removed our sins from us, as far as the east is from the west(Ps 103:12). All these things are part of the music God would like to play in our hearts as we live everyday in his presence.

God’s enemy is roaming about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1Peter 5:8). If we allow his narrative to play in our hearts and minds, the end result will be that we are devoured. But God has a better plan. When we let his Word dwell in us richly, (Col. 3:16), he lifts our hearts and fills us with his joy. The atmosphere changes, and the enemy is powerless. So the next time you realize you have the wrong station playing, take a moment to stop and change the channel!
