Isaiah 14:12 says, “How you are fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations”.
Satan was the one created by God as, “The anointed cherub who covers,” (Ezekiel 28:14). In the same verse it says, “You (satan) were upon the holy mountain of God; and you walked midst of the stones of fire.” That sounds pretty impressive. But that’s not all, verse 15 of the same chapter says, “You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created… until unrighteousness was found in you.” Verse 16 says, “By the abundance of your trade, you were internally filled with violence and you sinned: therefore I have cast you as profane out of the mountain of God: and I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.” Verse 17 says, “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty, you corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor.” Isaiah 14:13 says,”But you said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God.” Verse 14 says, “I will climb up to the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”
For having such an amazing start, satan fell so far! God had made him beautiful, placed him in the mountain of God. He was second only to God, but no, that was not good enough for him. His jealousy of God was exposed, and unrighteousness was found in him. He has been judged, his punishment set. It is only a matter of time. Matthew 25:41 says, “Depart from me, accursed ones, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.” Satan knows his destiny.
Yes, you have an enemy. Genesis 1:26 says, “And God said let us make man in our image, and according our likeness.” Made in the very image of God! Imagine that! Satan was not made in the image of God, and he was not a bit happy with man being created. So he came to Eve in the garden and tempted her to eat what God had commanded them not to eat. When she did, sin entered into her and through Adam and Eve into the entire human race. Then man began to die. Man was then destined for the same eternal judgement that satan is awaiting.
But… John 3:16 says, “God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” And… 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” He paid the price, Himself, for our sin! He loves us so much! He knew we had no other hope. Since then, and still today man has to be aware of his enemy. “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour,” (1 Peter 5:8). Satan is trying to drag mankind with him to his judgement and eternal punishment.
But God has made a way of escape! Will you take it? After all, it is not God who is your enemy.
