Just about every religion has a book of some kind or literature that they reverence.  People are often heard referring to the Bible as if it were just another book about a religion, but the Bible is far more than that.  I heard someone say, “Not everyone believes the Bible,” to which  my response should have been, “ well, they should,” but at a family reunion and to avoid a battle I held my tongue.

There is no other book that has the power to change your life.  John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God.”  Jesus said,“The  words that I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life,” John 6:63.  The very Word of God is Spirit and it is Life.  When you open your heart to the Lord Jesus and to His Word, His Word will change your heart. Did you realize what that means?  His Word will change your heart!   You will find, you begin to love the things He loves.  Hebrews 4:12 says, “ For the word of God is living and alive and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to judge the thoughts and intentions  of the heart.”  That is powerful!   Someday His Word will judge the thoughts and intents of all hearts.  It is best to let Him start now.

As marvelous as that is that is, it is not the whole story.  The Bible tells how God created the heavens and the earth, how man fell, and how Christ came to redeem man.  It tells how Christ will return to reign on earth.  There is so much more in the Bible.  According to one source, over 26% of the  is Bible is prophecy, and much of it is fulfilled.  The Bible is historically an incredibly accurate book as has been proven by archeology throughout the years, (such as the finding of the dead sea scrolls).  Here we’ve only skimmed the surface in describing the Bible.  There is no other book like it. 2 Peter 1:21 says, “For no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” If you don’t believe it, try it out.  Do what it says.  Call on the name of Jesus.  Ask Him to forgive you of your sins.  Invite Him into your heart.  Then start to read the Bible. John is  a good place to start.  See if anything happens…
